Stockholms Läns Landsting
Trafikförvaltningen, Stockholms Läns Landsting (SLL) is the transport authority responsible for public transport in the Stockholm county. As such, SLL is Sweden’s leading provider of public transport services. On a normal weekday more than 700 000 people use our services and do approx. 2,5 million boardings. During peak hours almost 8 out of 10 travel by Metro, commuter trains, tramways and buses. The system offers 25 000 daily trips on 2000 buses and 1000 trains, serving 244 stations and 14 000 bus stops.
SLL is the administrator and (through its 100% ownership in AB SL) the owner, of both infrastructure and vehicle for Metro, Light rail (Roslagsbanan and Saltsjöbanan) and Trams (Tvärbanan, Spårväg City, Nockebybanan and Lidingöbanan) in the county of Stockholm. For these tracks SLL, is the responsible body concerning noise emitted from the railway.
Role within the consortium
As the infrastructure and vehicle administrator SLL gives access to its assets. SLL will also support the coordination of the practical issues associated with the project (WP1 and WP3). SLL will contribute with technical support, SLL possess expert knowledge concerning noise related to its specific rail systems.
Reason for participation in the project
SLL has interest to improve its knowledge about track-emitted noise. Today the present role of the track (in terms of noise generator) is insufficiently known, investigated and documented. SLL sees potential benefits in the projected QUIET-TRACK results:
Increased track availability leading to more attractive public transport by an optimised track maintenance plan.
Reduced environmental impact (noise reduction) by optimised maintenance actions.
Reduced costs by improved maintenance planning and a better accuracy of the track status resulting from regular on-board monitoring.
